As Yoruba people, we take immense pride in purposeful leadership, which is deeply rooted in the culture, norms, and values that define our heritage. Our leadership, which extends from Yoruba communities in Nigeria to the Republic of Benin, highlights the international presence of Yoruba people, affirming our strong, interconnected ties across borders. Moreover, the leadership of our organization reflects the rich diversity of our culture, as it includes individuals from various age groups, honoring the Yoruba tradition of inclusivity, respect for elders, and the involvement of all generations in community building.

OUR FOUNDERS
About the Founders
The Yoruba Heritage Community of Windsor-Essex, originally established as Windsor Connect, was founded by a dedicated group of individuals who share a common cultural heritage rooted in the Yoruba tribe from southwestern Nigeria. These founders are passionate about preserving and promoting Yoruba culture and traditions within the Windsor-Essex region. Their collective effort and vision have played a pivotal role in forming a community that serves not only Yoruba people but also fosters a multicultural and inclusive environment.
They take pride in their Yoruba roots, emphasizing the values of unity, respect, and purposeful leadership that are deeply embedded in Yoruba culture. The founding members, united by a shared desire to support Yoruba people in Canada, have worked tirelessly to establish a platform that showcases the rich history, language, norms, and values of the Yoruba community.
These individuals laid the foundation for what is now the Yoruba Heritage Community of Windsor-Essex, a vibrant and dynamic organization that promotes cultural education, integration, and togetherness among Yoruba people and the wider community.
